Eating on the beach is definitely a Guernsey tradition. From chips down at Cobo, ice creams at Havelet, to sandwiches on Les Amarreurs, there can’t possibly be a better way to enjoy a summer meal time. Despite the picturesque setting there is one dreaded flaw of this otherwise relaxing pastime- sand in your food.
However there is a solution to this troublesome issue. Enjoy the views, weather and fun of eating on the beach without the sand and try a pier picnic. Guernsey’s pretty granite piers reaching out into the sea provide the perfect setting for eating outside. They provide a whole new perspective as you look ahead to the beach or land in front of you. There is nothing more relaxing than watching the tide rise around you, seeing fishermen returning with the day’s catch or watching the sun set in the distance. Piers provide the ideal place to enjoy a refreshing pre or post dinner dip too. All in all a great way to spend a Guernsey summers evening.
